If you have been feeling like Fiji is getting a little closer to the rest of the world lately, you are not imagining it.
Fiji Airways has announced an expansion of its Vancouver service, alongside a strengthened partnership with British Airways, marking another confident step in connecting Fiji with North America, the United Kingdom, and beyond.
And for travellers, whether planning a long overdue holiday or ticking Fiji off the bucket list, this is where things start to get easier.

More Flights, More Flexibility
From June 16th 2026, Fiji Airways will operate three flights per week between Nadi and Vancouver all year round.
It is a move driven by strong demand from the Canadian market, reinforcing the route’s growing importance within the airline’s international network.
There will also be additional seasonal flights during peak travel periods, giving travellers more flexibility when it matters most. Think school holidays, winter escapes, and those long planned tropical getaways that finally make it out of the group chat.
The expansion has also been welcomed by Vancouver International Airport.
“We’re pleased to see Fiji Airways expand its presence in Vancouver with increased service and an enhanced partnership with British Airways,” said Mike McNaney, Vice President and Chief External Affairs Officer. “Expanding the number of flights to Fiji from Vancouver further strengthens our role as Canada’s Asia-Pacific gateway, while offering travellers more choice and seamless connectivity across the South Pacific.”

A Smoother Journey from the United Kingdom
In another major update, Fiji Airways is expanding its codeshare agreement with British Airways to include the Vancouver route.
Travellers flying from the United Kingdom can now book their journey to Fiji via Vancouver under a British Airways code, creating a more seamless travel experience from start to finish.
This builds on existing connections through major global hubs like Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, San Francisco and Los Angeles, positioning Fiji as an increasingly accessible gateway to the South Pacific.
A Growing Global Presence
For Fiji Airways, this is about more than just adding flights.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Paul Scurrah described the expansion as a proud moment in the airline’s North American growth journey, highlighting a continued focus on choice, convenience and delivering a world class experience.
That ambition is already gaining global recognition.
Passengers travelling on the Vancouver route will now experience Fiji Airways’ newly introduced World Class service standard, which earned the airline the APEX World Class 2026 Award and placed it among the top 10 airlines in the world.
It is a significant milestone, reflecting ongoing investment in onboard experience, service training and the finer details that shape a memorable journey.
Why This Matters for Fiji
Beyond the aviation headlines, this expansion reinforces Fiji’s growing global connectivity.
With its membership in the oneworld alliance and integration with the American Airlines AAdvantage® program, Fiji Airways connects travellers to more than 900 destinations worldwide.
For local tourism operators, hotels, and small businesses, this expanded connectivity unlocks new opportunities and supports long-term growth.
