Welcoming the world’s most luxurious vessels to Fiji’s shores and beyond
Port Denarau Marina on Denarau has completed its landmark six million dollar Mega Yacht Berth Expansion, a project that sets a new benchmark for maritime infrastructure in the South Pacific. The development positions Fiji at the forefront of global yachting destinations and ushers in a new era for superyacht tourism in the region.
The four-month project delivers seven state-of-the-art berths, including Fiji’s very first mega yacht berth capable of accommodating vessels up to 115 metres in length. This milestone is not only a first for Fiji but also for the wider South Pacific, reinforcing the country’s ability to attract some of the world’s most prestigious vessels.

Engineering excellence meets island innovation
At the centre of the expansion is a 208-metre jetty extension, supported by extensive dredging to deepen approach channels and turning basins. These works ensure safe navigation and seamless access for the largest yachts on the water. Designed to global best practice standards, the expansion blends cutting-edge engineering with environmental care.
Among the highlights is the installation of the Super Elite® Marina System from Marine Structures in Australia, which uses elastomeric hinge technology to provide flexibility, rapid installation, and long-term durability with minimal maintenance. Complementing this are upgraded utility pedestals from Patron Power and new fuel lines supplied by Pacific Energy, ensuring that yachts have modern and efficient access to power and refueling directly at berth.
The complex piling works and precision dredging were led by Design Marine Fiji, while Port Denarau Marina’s own maintenance team integrated the new systems into existing operations. The result is a seamless blend of international innovation with strong local expertise, highlighting Fiji’s growing capability in delivering world-class marine projects.
With the completion of this expansion, Port Denarau Marina now boasts 62 private berths, including 27 dedicated to superyachts over 24 metres. This increase in capacity not only supports the needs of visiting superyachts but also stimulates wider economic opportunities for marine services, tourism operators, and local communities across Fiji.
Port Denarau Marina Board Chair Malakai Naiyaga emphasised the broader vision behind the project:
“This is more than infrastructure. It is a forward-looking investment in Fiji’s future as the leading superyacht destination in the South Pacific. It enables us to welcome the world’s most prestigious vessels while generating local jobs, supporting marine tourism, and strengthening our position on the global stage.”
The expansion is already proving to be a catalyst for growth within Fiji’s marine economy. Local suppliers and contractors played a key role during construction, and the long-term benefits are expected to ripple across charter operations, marine services, and tourism.
As Port Denarau Marina opens this new chapter, it reaffirms its commitment to delivering unmatched service, safety, and hospitality. More than just a marina, it stands as the gateway to the South Pacific and a world-class hub for superyachts seeking the very best of Fiji.
